Angel of Mine

Angel of Mine

A Poem by EmeraldFacet

Angel of Mine you walk with me
Everywhere, your hand I see
They call you end, they call you grim
Yet your only crime is ushering us in

We cling to time we do not own
Mistake your guidance for dark unknown
But I will set my burdens down
So my hands may reach for yours when I am found

I called you once before my hour
Confusing rest with learned cower
I asked for quiet, asked for cease
You answered by denying mortal release

You held the door. You drew the line
You kept your vow when I lost mine
I drowned in grief, not wave nor sea
And still you stood protecting me

Do you recall me by my gaze
From other lives, from other days?
If I forget what once was mine
Perhaps you keep it safe in time
Though memory fades when I begin
Some part of me still knows your skin
We’ll meet again without a name
And recognize what stays the same

You witness me from first breath drawn
Through quiet mornings, blaze of dawn
You hold my laughter, tears, and fear
Each fleeting moment year by year
You carry it all, unseen, yet near
So on the journey home, you speak it clear

They fear you for your constant stay
For never turning eyes away
They name you dark, mistake your role
Not seeing you stand
Guard of Soul

You do not end us,you attend
A witness steady to the bend
And when my time is rightly meant
I’ll know you as my firmament

Unburdened then, I’ll take your hand
It won’t feel like the end I planned
It will feel quiet, right, and known
In you I trust to guide me home

About
I believe that embers of the past have just enough potential to start a fire in our soul, enableing each one of us to, not become great for ourselves, but rather to do something great for someone else.. more..
