You put me here

In this place

 

I am living in this foster home

Because of your dumb mistake

I have to suffer because of what you did

Where I don't share a room with someone I don't know

But no,

I have to pay for what you did

 

If you would have put down the needles

Right then

Right when they told you

They would take me away

 

I would never be here for what you did

 

Now because of what you did

It is heart breaking how some kids that were taken away from their parents have a love/hate emotion towards them. The most important thing parents need to give their children is love, and often when drug addiction is involved, they parents are more focused on their fix than their kid. It's awful to think about how many children go through this. I think you captured well what the thoughts of a child going through this would think. But it is just only the surface of their thoughts on the topic. A great write! :)

I have a friend that was in foster care growing up. Its a sad, lonely and scary place to be. What a shame that children have to pay for their parents mistakes.

So unique, I love the repetition. Especially how to pointed out that a needle was the cause making me think this may have been about a drug addicted father who either past away or failed to be responsible. I can relate in feeling that my father has abandoned me in the past. Recently though he has been trying to do better but it doesn't help that he never had a true role model when he was my age. Thank you for this, I swear when i get older i am going to adopt as many kids as possible buy a freaking mansion and give them a life they deserve.

I had a creative writing teacher who had rules of thumb for almost everything, even the use of the word I. Her rule for I was that you can tell how close a person is to the topic they wrote about by how often they use the word I. Which means you are very close to this topic and have put yourself in the role, to stand in the shoes of someone else. This lets you put more emotion and feeling in your writing than someone else who wrote about the topic without your mental/emotional connection. (Sorry for the lecture but once a teacher always a teacher) Because you put heart and soul into this poem one would think it written from experience but reading that is not the case only speaks well of your writing talents and skills. Clap! Clap Clap!
