Tell Me Where the Flowers GrowA Poem by Emily PTell me where the flowers grow, Please, for I have tried To lift my lowly spirits And restore my sense of pride
Tell me where the flowers grow, Where the sun once ignited our fire I remember laughing side by side I had felt the warmth of desire
Tell me where the flowers grow, With stems that reach the sky, Where I once told you awful truths And you never bat an eye
Tell me where the flowers grow, Where my heart had beat anew Because while I examined the golden petals You told me “I love you”
Tell me where the flowers grow, Where I plucked the petals so I invited you along that day But you had told me no
Tell me where the flowers grow, Where clouds loomed overhead I sat in the endless field alone My heart was filled with dread
Tell me where the flowers grow Where my world had gone astray I pulled the roots out of the ground And created a tribute bouquet
Tell me where the flowers grow I must go for you, my dear, I can find my peace within this field Your memory, it lives on here © 2016 Emily P |
