yellow bird sings..

yellow bird sings..

A Story by emmajoygreen

part of series lost but found but, may need losing again!

"

She wanders, feet sore, heart weeping

as the silent bird sits, eyes invisible,

feathers damper than damp. Children

gasp, put aside bereft bears fallen on

hard times. Yet - the sun sets behind

once chittered cohorts, bloody blades

b'sheathed. Bruises smelling of raw

pain salted with regret. Chapel bell

tries to ring - its neck broken, choked

on its own peal. Laughter echoed air.

She now hangs, head slumped t'wards

small breasts trembling, past smiles

mud-messed at weather come-gone.

Suddenly sounds - faint, less faint:

there on a weeping branch, yellow bird

sings country shallow, its sad beak

bruised by human ignorance.  Worm

turns from the dire droppings of yew

alone. Sky opens, one leaf flies, circles

seven chimneys, twisted sans wit.

He stands, fate in hand, words laid on

grey paper once smelling of violets.

Dothreg's nose drips, eyes cower, legs

limp post passed a decade. Muscles

seize, man moans. Soft fingers trail

his skin, pause twice, whispering air,

lips open, grey eyes gaze, ''Forgive me,

as I forgave your odious oblivion. We

fools fall, fail, deny destiny, daring but

different and more. Yet - we smile.
