A Story by emmajoygreen
"

a recent muddle of dreams..

"
He said, 'Come, early Winter, there be a crease of space about three in the chill of morning.'

'Was unknown time when night moths unfold their wings then, sing benisons
to new-born stars.
They - poor fragile beings, nudged into space to race one another.
Onwards, forwards - they, crossing a vast void to find a promise.
A golden land where each man is another's brother.'
Comes pause when time holds its breath
When human children moan their intentions to be good an' kind before the great man comes.
He, bearing gifts as did aged men once on the walls of ancient caves.
Caves, deep-bound solid edifices  covered by unintelligible shapes an' silent sounds.
Is said their striations will never truly be transcribed.
Too many tongues an' ears have laid intrigue or guesswork too little or too late
Intention wrongly writ, suggestions incorrectly lit by a sad scribes' near blind tallow.
Those were the days when Mankind gave what it could rather than make believe what it had.
Tripping or sauntering across lands as if circus people ready to raise canvas for a drum of thunder
'Tween that an' its sharp lit companion, moving on across salt flats..
dull gold deserts.. et al
That extraordinary terrain flatter than drifting murmurs along with breathless noise hid under odd shaped fungi.
Blessed then by vintage blackberry wine drip-dripping into morning dew
The gloriously reflected palette of a never before dawn.

I wonder from what source human perversity stems? That there is never a time when we have enough, are required to care about what is around the next bend. Reach for the stars! Santa is coming!
Beauty is simple, and everywhere, peace is easy, and all around, love does not have to come as La Bell Dame...
How easy to stop and contemplate the sound of splashing water, dapples of sunshine in the forest, to lie quietly in a meadow, or find sweet love? Why do we find it so easy to dash from one jagged crisis to another? Is it in the human genome? It seems all we've done is trade nights cowering in the back of a cave, hoping for tomorrow's nuts and berries, or the fresh flesh of some hapless thing we killed, for a soft bed hoping there is money for utilities and to pay the grocer, plus insurance, plus taxes, plus ad infinitum.
We drag through exhausted days of sensory overload while our bodies are little more than sediment in chairs. Survival always has its price, but my how we have perverted the process!
As usual, your insights leave your readers enriched and delighted.

Yes boys and girls, they did... Not only that, but if you were naughty back then, the teacher could strap you with a belt, so behave yourselves, because I hear its making a comeback! 😊
How did I manage to miss this one? Its a corker and no mistake!
And in this festive season, don't think we don't see the "Goodwill to all" vibe going on.
I must say though, that younger people might get confused at the blackberry line and think they're drinking old type cell phones.😊

I think your last two lines paint a vivid imagery, Vintage blackberry wine
I can see a drip against the morning dew, as the dew slowly fades away from the day,
and the day becomes a blessing. Very nicely written. enjoyed your words.

And dreams, it seems, are just like that. Or is it faith or beliefs or something along those lines? Certain times of year bring certain (or uncertain) adventures for our hearts and minds to follow, chase after or wait for. When they appear, smiles create the starts in the night sky, when they don't...that is the season the sun does not shine nearly as bright. Though, with that being said, when I find your thoughts posted on this site, the sun is never brighter. Thanks for sharing this my friend.

The dreamy quality of your lines and words used relates well to your dreaming state of mind. Speaking also of a time when humanity lived simpler and infinitely more kinder lives. Much to ponder in this offering.

This is quite frankly and without fading, Crystal. It follows the cut lines of the diamond that it is. An extremly high carat diamond but not one for a large and tasteless hand but a subtle and meaningful, no, messageful paen of life.
I am knocked out with quality of this wonder. As if I suddenly caught sight of it amongst the detritus of everything else. I caught the wonder and sheer excellence of it.
It is such an orchestral use of words if that is not overegging the pudding with metaphor and simile It quite simply knocked my socks off. A favourite for ever.
That line when mankind gave what it could rather than make believe what it had. That is just starlike and crystal. Stellar. art in words. Now I gush I'm sorry but I can't help it.
