IF

IF

A Poem by emmajoygreen
"

Will repeat this poem because I need to ..

"
Think you, merely asking - might the moon die

IF war was considered the answer to power, intolerance or or/and greed
and the first one took place Ages ago - surely it did not work

IF war is still considered such a great idea - the answer to everything -
why has it taken more than centuries of them to prove success

WHY do so many flags hang at half mast yet - around the globe
historians have argued, always will argue, about the need for conflict

BUT there's no need for excuses, no explanation for orphans or missing
limbs: the absence of converse and faith is more than obscure

NOW we have drones to falter for seconds then - as if technological lava,
continue to bleed our planet's beings as if invisible nothings

HUMANKIND - a tragedy Aliens name the ultimate plague. Who knows, perhaps WE need learn from
Them OR -  fly into space an' play with it even more.

But think you, might the moon die?

Thank you for visiting and sharing, Amanda
Hiii Emma!!

Powerfully written!! War isn't the answer just like fighting in schools doesn't solve the conflict. It adds more sorrow to our lives with the continual fighting. And yet with the advancement of technology we are still at square one. Yes the advancement of technology is convenient but to what extent does it play unto our lives. This mindset just continues forth no bringing peace to the world and yet such a terrible mindset to bring onto other areas such as the moon. Well written Emma there's so much to be said about war and peace.

Thanks Emma

Very wisely said Emma!!🤗🤗🥰🥰I know right reviews are far and few in between.
This thinking is so important and I love that you’ve used poetry to question its means. This line stuck out so powerfully for me “ BUT there's no need for excuses, no explanation for orphans or missing
limbs:”. It feels important for what you’ve written here because it paints an image of those downfalls of war and keeps it from being esoteric by pulling in elements of the heart.

I certainly will :)
When I was growing up, I always questioned the relevance of war. What purpose did it serve? Why did we do it? How do we start it? How do we know when its over? What justifies it? I would ask these questions and get varied responses -- some against, some in favor, some directly in the middle.

I find myself very middle ground minded. I will never actively choose war -- after all, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar -- but I know if someone is coming after us, we should be ready to defend ourselves. That being said ... I hate that we, the people, go to war as a first option that what I personally believe it should be ... a last resort, a final option, a "stand your ground" type of means of survival that should only come if that survival is genuinely being threatened. The politicians throw the threat around like its nothing, like war is just an errand you run on a Sunday afternoon. Its sad. No, worse than sad -- its horrifying.

Your words ring so true. If this pattern continues, if we choose to enact war over things we dont need, where does it end? Where is that line drawn, assuming one was ever drawn at all? If not now, when? And that last stanza hit so hard -- "think you, will the moon die?" -- because surely, in that literal context, humanity would populate the moons surface and just find reasons to harm one another again.

Such a well written piece, which means alot from me because I tend to try and avoid policial pieces. This one, though, is such a treat and I am so thrilled I was blessed enough to get to read it.

Dear Emmajoy
War is the ultimate Opium Rush, the most entertaining farce and the most thrilling game of all
Until you find yourself or your environment is embroiled in one
Then you find out it's nothing but a nightmare dressed in glory. War movies and wargames are bestsellers. Perhaps they attest to the fact that there is something perverse in humans that need war to make them feel whole. You live and let die.
Politics can't solve the problem. We need something better
But what exactly is that going to be? You can't just wish war away. Or legislate it out of existence. Perhaps it's the price we pay for being humans.
After the second world war, no one thought any nation or people would have the gut to engage in war anymore. But look where we are today
I try to look on the bright side as I write this review and hope a drone doesn't knock out my street.
Wishing you the very best.

oops, have twice try to set the above correctly!
It's all so frightening to think about that I just stay away from contemplating it as much as possible. Besides voting, I know of little else I can do that would affect change for the better. It really gets me how one awful person can have the power to send multitudes into battle. No, war is not a great idea. There's some evidence that aliens have visited us before, possibly sharing technology with the pyramid builders and others. How nice it would be for them to come again and teach us not to kill one another.

I'm all for scientific feats of achievement, but deep down I might think it is for the best if Elon musk and his ilk have a catastrophic failure in their quest to infect the universe with the blight humans have thus far been. Maybe their spaceship could combust when no one is anywhere near it and just keep us pesky humans earthbound, because every possibility that runs through my head ends with a war of the worldsesque calamity that no amount of time on the naughty step will fix!
I mean, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the universes police ground us until we can at least play together without kicking, buying or shooting each other. Only then will be be allowed a provisional licence to roam the galaxies without sending the fear of alien gods into well, aliens I suppose.
I was always if the opinion that if you fail at something then you should persevere with it, but let's face it, us going a week without war is about as likely as a sparkly rainbow falling out of my right ear.
I was going to round this up with a "will we ever learn" but I think we all know the answer to that one, don't we?
