Life is..

Life is..

A Poem by emmajoygreen
"

from local 'freeby' ?

"
A mid-life crisis                   is like being a child again

swinging across a                shallow river on frayed rope
longing to be the                 hero an' fall in with a
with a loud belly-flop          shouting, meant to do that

that was why I                     stripped off 'cept m' pants
so my Ma                             would think rain got me

(kind, she thinks like that -  she trusts her lad)

but, wet wash Lil  says         next time she'll ban me

'cos launderettes aren't for   those who never grew up

Emma Joy Green, it is best that you know where the child is within you. I think the child is the one who keeps your heart connected to the rest of you!

This, to me is a conversation between both sides of the brain. The left and the right. That is how it works so well, for me.

I rather like this piece Em and can only assume that having not going through a midwife crisis so far, I must be less than halfway through my life and am looking forward to celebrating my 150th birthday! 😃
I suppose life affects us all differently and that an actial mid life crisis is only when someone knows they have let something slip into the past, whereby I would like to see far more adults splashing in puddles and skipping along the road. Could you even imagine how mortified kids would be of their mums and dads splashing in puddles and playing rope and trying to get them to join in too? It would be a giggle if the kid was under 10 but any older and they'd hive their parents the death glare!
I like your line about swinging over a river on a piece of frayed rope. It brought back memories of camping trips with my friends, without parents, mobiles or anything near a responsible adult.
Perhaps the only reason a midlife crisis exists ar all is to clear out all the growed ups from the swings and slides and make sure they go to work on Monday mornings.
I suggest you just start skipping along next time you see a hopscotch grid and listen to the awesome of kids whispering "She knows!" 😃
