The Closest Thing

The Closest Thing

A Poem by Nicholas Hagenschneider

she broke me

she tore me apart

she left me here to die

now broken

and torn apart

i'm left here wondering why

i'm so sick of my reflection

when your standing behind me

i'm so done with your perfection

i don't see the fault's that you see

now i'm done

and your tears hit the floor

i left you there to die

now your broken

and torn apart

with no need to wonder why

i'm so sick of my reflection

when your standing behind me

i'm so done with your perfection

i don't see the fault's that you see

you were the closest thing

i had to a chance

to feel like i was in love

but i'm moving on

leaving behind

it's time i rise above
