HONEYMOON SYNDROME.

HONEYMOON SYNDROME.

A Poem by Emunah June.

pass the age of ivory floral
and every eye will fall
to the space between my legs.

they'll know my body's different.
temple doors in broken stone.

the whispers come
over morning walks
and coffee mugs.

they'll picture my face
in twisted pleasure,
and his back with my hands
and the marks left behind.

they'll ask "was it good?"
as if i had any measure,
and spring cherries flood my cheeks ;
i don't know what to say.

who knew the crown
of diamond rings
would feel so heavy?

Stunning, Em, That first verse knocked me a bit sideways. You put this in such simple, graphic terms it surprises the reader like a sudden slap in the face. I am amazed that, not just in this poem, but in most of your work I have read, you use very few words to convey great things. That is extremely difficult to do; and yet you seem to do it with very little effort, like a great chef pulling a complete meal out of her hat, "ta da!"Spare, and beautiful. Please, don't stop.

Emunah,
I have long wondered at the power of magical words, how a symbol is chameleon, and can change because we look at it, how it is the fuel of meaning, that splashy creek from between those nobby hills. How it whispers its way to give twisted pleasure to the meadow where everything is good as double-refractive cherries...

This reads like a poem that bleeds gently. You’ve captured the paradox of womanhood post-innocence how desire and judgment intertwine, how whispers echo louder than truth. It redefines marriage as both ornament and burden, beauty and bruise. Amazing work

What an evocative, beautiful and layered piece of work. Thoroughly enjoyed every line with a chuckle at the end. Thank you.

What a way to describe the day after...and in a way that makes something that should be so special seem so blatantly immoral...and scandalous. I should know, I have had three of them.
You are such a strong writer.

That means a lot to me, thank you so so much. Im glad I am not the only one who understand this!!
It does seem quite odd that people would want to know something like that. As though there's a strange new light coming from under your pants. :)

Well, no light, just alot of confusion and questions! Hahah!
Thank you Emunah for letting me, just a little bit, experience the female side of things. You have some nice lines, my favorite: temple doors in broken stone. MSB
