ROGERS ORDER.

ROGERS ORDER.

A Poem by Emunah June.

I don't want this.
But God, I need this.

I'm thankful you said
what's festered in my throat
since I was young.

Now I have to
swallow bitter pills
truthful, but distasteful.

I need this.
But God, I don't want it.

Is it true
that healing can hurt
and feel so good
at the same exact moment?

For context, a "rogers order" is an order in Mass in which the court picks a legal guardian over a patient to decide what medications / medical treatment they receive if a patient is deemed unable to do it themselves.

Oh, honey, you are speaking to the choir, here!
I have lived in and through each and every verse in this one -- many times!
And when you have to see it and be it, too, it can be a mighty struggle.
Amen.

Quite the profound, self-analytical poetic prose and yes, sometimes we gotta grasp that stinging nettle, feel the pain though it will pass on realisation all that glitters is not gold... Roger a wise counceller indeed!

Inspiring!

I strongly believe what you said in the last stanza is true; in fact, I know it is.

I have felt the process enough times.
