HAUNTED HOUSE.

HAUNTED HOUSE.

A Poem by Emunah June.

my friends must think i'm crazy
because i talk about a man
whom these halls have never seen
and they just don't understand

they say that i've gone mad
because this man does not exist,
the surely would've seen him
walking within their midst.

but here i say "oh no!"
he just has no time to meet,
he really hates the sun
and its only me he greets.

he comes to me at night
and his hands are cold to touch.
he'll kiss away my flaws
and say he loves me oh so much

and his visage is so absent
when i flip on the lights,
the sun will rise, and there he goes!
away for a few more nights.

but when i'm at my lowest
and my tears flood all the streets,
i see him clear as day
just as long as he's under my sheets.

but i find it really funny
how when i'm doing well,
no text or call will find my phone,
no ring at my doorbell.

they swear that he's not real
they think its all a joke,
they offer me their Ouija boards
to prove its not a hoax.

i just think he's shy, that's all it is
he's really just the best
and he promises me he'll meet them someday
while he watches me undress.

and though "someday" has yet to come
my walls, he haunts the same
a ghost in every way and form,
but i love how he says my name.

so exorcise me, if you must
call up the local priest
pour holy water between my thighs
thats where the spirit likes to feast!

Chuckling here... you captured loneliness and the way the mind will react ...

This reminds me so much of the Barbara Hershey movie, The Entity.
Especially the last three stanzas.
A really good October poem as that favorite holiday approaches.
While reading this, The Conjuring is playing behind me on the television.

Emunah girl, you know I love you and I love your writing. I rarely try to write in rhyme, for I find I cheapen my original inspiration by seeking for rhyming words. I might abandon a striking string of words because I cannot make them rhyme, and I end up with something rather mediocre. This was fun to read, but it did not inspire me as most of your writing does. All that said, I do really like the last stanza. It wouldn’t be holy water I offered between your thighs.

That's quite an ending. I have only dreamed of sex once or twice. You have a friendly ghost, that's for sure. :)
