Don't Hurt Me

Don't Hurt Me

A Poem by emz

I only asked you

to wash the dishes

I only asked you

to wash the floor

I work just as you do

what makes your life

so different to mine

You hurt me.

Why did you drag

me by the hair?

Why did you say

those deadly words

Why did you hit me

and bruise my soul

I'm sad now

like a broken tree

that has been burnt

by vandals

I am aching

like a squirrel

trapped in a bird feeder

I am angry

like the ocean

whipped up to

a frenzy

I am hurt

like a girl

who thought you

would never hurt her

But you did....

Bruises fade my love

but violence and

fists

never do.
