The Truth

The Truth

A Poem by ephiphany~

The truth is often a lie- which has been embellished
by those who know our greatest fears
and feed upon our weakness.

The truth can be dsiguised as a right- when in the end
is is not absolute-
it is not without flaws-
it can produce more pain than the greatest of lies...
even lies that masquerade as that very same truth-

The truth affords some a certain luxury-
yes i have spoken of this before...
yet I say again-
it can be costly that truth.
it can hurt-
it can slice-
it can burn-
it can somtimes do the complete opposite of it's intended purpose...
which we have been led to believe-
that the truth shall set you free..
Sometimes i'd take that lie over certain truths..
Maybe it would not hurt so much in the grand scheme of things-
Maybe that path of enlightnenment is a fork in the road-
unsettleing as it may seem...
we often must travel uncharted roads
to simply get to where we need to be.
perhaps then we can truly be free.

You have put alot of truth in this piece. Everyone wants the "Truth", but you question what is true. For instance. If you and I were sitting at a table, across from each other...and someone layed the letter "M" between us. Then they asked "What do you see ? " Our truths would be different. One of our truths would be an "M"..but one of our truths would be a "W". Both truths? That's called a paralax. Looking at the same thing, but seeing it different. Whites and blacks tend to do that alot. I like this piece because you look closely at what truth is..what it does..what it doesn't do. I like your challenging of " The truth will set you free." lol Good piece. Rain..
