If Dreams Came True

If Dreams Came True

A Poem by e.renoldi

If dreams came true to fly away,

 leave behind the world at play;

into a land that is so real,

-so free from pain that hearts now feel.

To spread those pallid wings out far,

and fly!- no soar! a shooting star;

exploring nooks of grand silk clouds,

ignoring pains that call aloud.

Surrounded by the vast blue sky,

as bright warm colors all fly by;

a light the sun shines clear as be,

onto rolling waves in the sea.

Internal fires burning take over,

  the final halt soon will rover;

no giving up the voice can say;

and yet, still weakened day by day.

Swaying through the misty air,

 gentle wind caressing limp hair;

the failing heart fails fast and slows,

 that face awaited freedom shows.

The fragile wings draw from the side,

as strength starts its eternal hide;

 a sinner’s goal met in the end,

is that not where all roads will bend?

No tears! yes dear! missed with a smile,

embraces delayed a short while;

it’s gone!-so short! the moment’s through,

oh God! if only, dreams came true.
