a not too novel concept

a not too novel concept

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a not too novel concept

intelligence can be binding

especially if it is the book kind

a word for word life

confinement imprinted in our hearts

without page-less whimsy

our souls can be typed into moribund wisps

of degenerative matter

that copyrights our brain

but leaves no room

for editing.

'a not too novel concept'
erin, cilberto,
Jacob,
This was so interesting! Written to present our lives and what we feel and experience as a story a novel. Words like; intelligence can be binding, book kind, word for life imprinted on our hearts, page-less whimsy, typed into moribund wisps, degenerative matter, copyrights our brain, no room for editing.
Soul and mind compared to what it feels like to look our days as a story in the bindings of a book. This to me was really creative. I've been off of here for a really long time and it was neat to read your poem!
Thanks,
Kathy

Thanks so much for your words, Kathy...how have you been?

Takes more than the adoption of other people's ideas to equip a fully-functioning human being; some adaption and near-instinctual ingenuity are also necessary.
Meaningful bit of work!

The greatest treasure of a man is a mind capable of producing novelty
Thoughts that can't be reproduced by another
and allow for much growth and adaptability

thank you for your kind and insightful words, Nisreenaa.

Very cool word plays in this one--and it speaks volumes (right?) to me about how a purely intellectual mind creates a flat existence. We need the other side too! Perhaps sides. That's how we make the protagonist into a round and dynamic character who can unravel their story of life.

Awesome pohm

there's a huge difference between "book smarts" and "street smarts". ideally, we need to balance them, as one nourishes the other.

love the word play on "binding" and "matter"

such a clever write that rings so true...

"A not too novel concept..." Your title speaks as intellectually as your insight, Jacob.

we need to broaden our minds so that we balance our intelligence...the logical and practical with the instinct...
