it's quiet in the sanctuary of semantic regret
A Poem by
jacob erin-cilberto
it's quiet in the
sanctuary of semantic regret
baptism
of words,
the touch of liquid
vocabulary
anointed syntax,
a version dipped in
indelible ink
the poem's life begins
but the original sin is
still the writer's will
and the mortal memories
that birthed the poem
will forever
gather
in contrition's
confessional
a page bleeding of
conscience.

wonderful religious imagery to describe the speaker's/poet's angst.
i think you've just redefined "confessional poetry"....

And now I am baptized in the spirit of these very poet words. Conscious of it's profound depth, my friend.

Jacob, I am not being kind. You are a brilliant artist. I am merely recognizing that :)

thank you, Chris. :)
As we have come to expect, fine poetry from Jacob. This an almost Joycean hymn to language, with
a coming together of both the magic of words and the mysticism of religion.
Belief is carried by language ; which Jacob proves here.

A cleverness of words, jacob - not for the first time. A serious touch of the academic church here ' a page bleeding conscience' indeed. Seems a severe mix of literary awareness and the church jostle for the forefront on this occasion!

I see this as the birth of poetry, for better or for worse.
