loving you extreme

from a place of faraway emotion

a distant burn

the flame's blue tip

colder than it should be

and yet, it scalds

the toughest skin

of a heart,

afraid to feel closeness.

But having a secret love...I think it is difficult.

Yes, the candle is burning but it's at a distance. I liked the expression 'assertive trepidation': as though the fear to engage is a sentient wilful entity (perhaps it is). the cool flame, the scalded heart are great images to toss over in the mind...I really enjoyed this deep piece.

Jacob, maybe some fear of "closeness", but I think this flame is drawing you in... maybe it will "burn", but I think the beauty and feel of it has enticed...

funny/ironic cause are we moths or flies, metaphically speaking, yes, yes we are!!
