the Confidence Game

the Confidence Game

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the Confidence Game

a certain sunlit morning

behind foreign shades of shame

peeking eyes blink new confidence

apologies bring surface glare to the pane

a heartless recluse

finds company

in shielding surrogate emotions

with others,

who refuse to walk under halcyon skies

pretending clouds,

even when none are in sight.

Self doubt is self perpetuating. The ability to express one's self, as in this well crafted poem poem is a surely a quality of self confidence. There is nothing to hide.
