his happy partner

his happy partner

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

his happy partner

later leaving

body heaving

sights and sounds

wracking his diluted brain

doleful drums

of doldrums'

insistence,

loses to resistance

love, the danger

but accept the stranger's

later leaving

body heaving

in rhythm with tandem thoughts

intrepid notes finding way

into dance

the beat of

doleful drums

of doldrums

his happy partner.

Hmmm. There's something to be said for instant gratification I guess, but we have tools for that these days which spare us the complications and awkward phone calls. I like this poem though, I think too many people use their sex as the tool.

that is so true, Ana...

thank you,

Sex as a way to leave the everyday behind, surrender to the moment, and for that moment, be happy, even if it is an illusion.

so insightful, thank you for your words, KL...

Such an expanse of difference in the way two people perceive a physical encounter. For one, there is danger of love, for the other, just a momentary body heaving pleasure. So let them step into it with their eyes open. It is a risk most people who value themselves do not prefer to take. Appreciated the concept of the poem very much.

You are most welcome. It was a great poem to read.
I enjoyed the beat of the words....very rhythmic! Two people come together...strangers in the night. A physical relationship with nothing substantial behind it and then one leaves....leaving the other alone with only a memory of a one night stand. Great wordplay. Different and enjoyable. Lydi**

thank you for your kind review, Lydi..

Your poetry gets the mind thinking..... so many different interpretations, maybe the reader finds something that you never intended to say.
Insistence does lose to resistance and the stranger is bound to leave. One is left in sorrow, the other moves on with a smile...... unfortunately this is the story in almost everyone's life.

So I didn't know what to do with the dissonance of the happy partner and the rest...
until I thought-
well maybe these are two different people, the happy partner was the once partner of who
is now beating to these doleful drums...

one happily moving on
one stuck mourning and in the doldrums of this lost love

so often it is just this way.

I want to be partnered up with doldrums - sometimes that's where peace finds us. April is almost gone!!! Where did April go? - sorry, now I'm ranting :)
