SanctuaryA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoSanctuary
i
sought refuge into you my camouflage, but the colors were
substitute they say "love the
one you're with" but in the safety of
your heart i was merely a moment
away from being somewhere
else
and you deserved more
than a house guest for an emotionally busy
weekend you opened your door to
me and i accepted, on false pretenses,
dreaming of a wilderness chasing a prey i knew i would never
catch.
thus i step across your
welcome mat now, reading it and me, upside down.
