Sanctuary

Sanctuary

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Sanctuary

i sought refuge into you

my camouflage,

but the colors were substitute

they say "love the one you're with"

but in the safety of your heart

i was merely a moment away

from being somewhere else

and you deserved more than a house guest

for an emotionally busy weekend

you opened your door to me

and i accepted,

on false pretenses,

dreaming of a wilderness

chasing a prey

i knew i would never catch.

thus i step across your welcome mat

now,

reading it

and me,

upside down.

dear Jacob, wandering through the tall grass,
sometimes you discover a violet and sometimes
a dandelion... truly, Pat

that is so true, Pat....so true.

thank you,

Strange how it is never about loving the one we are with and usually about chasing prey we can never catch. So spread out the welcome mat but don't take the perfunctory moves of the houseguest for more. If you do , it's at your own risk. Appreciated so much...
