Rehashing it all in our minds doesn't help, but we do it anyway, even though the result is ultimately the same. If we are lucky we change the patterns a little each time and don't repeat the same mistakes in quite the same way.
This sums up the irrationalities of love.
From my perspective unrequited love is the most selfless.
Unfortunately people often find this particular kind to be the most heartbreaking.
It takes a brave soul to love fiercely without return and even braver one to write about it.
Well done, as always, Jacob!

It's interesting, some of the truest moments, the moments when you feel alive, when you feel like you have found who you are and who you want to be, arrive at times when logic has been disregarded, tossed to the side, without fear of the unknown or future mencing with thoughts.
Hope sustains us on life support along with faith and logic, to keep us grounded or healed. As long as the heart beats, there is another moment in time for love to be embraced and to embrace us. A true significant other will just be there when we find that we are worthy of love and its many facets. You are worthy by any reason of irrationality and valuable in any season of shifting. The shift change must start within.....An excellent one although sad great poet...:)...........
A poignant write. I have to say, though, it is never too late, Jacob. The sands of time DO shift and what is important to us in a relationship changes, but there is always hope to find a satisfying relationship. Again, the metaphors you seem to shake out of your sleeve are incredible to me. Lydi**
