and yes, my sense of humor has gotten me through the worst...if don't laugh, we will die. I have to have fun in life or I stop breathing.

The references you placed here are a truly massive work of art ..... Moving on or moving out
Is this a matter of more to come ..... or realizing a massive loss
Only that road could ever so determine that
And the correct state of mind

Madness has been elevated from an occasionally acceptable explanation to the only discernible goal of many "political groups."
May true reason and our specie's rational self-interest--once again--prevail!
Much more, of course, to this exceptional piece of work.
Amazing read, Jabob!

"keep your motor running...head out on the highway..." The madness of today...well, it is out there, but there was madness back then too. Just a different brand is all. The old keepsakes seem to look prettier now that they have slipped away. Great references to Plath and Sexton. Creeley would see things differently today...or would he? Your poetry continues to impress, Jacob. Lydi**
Nothing is keft unscathed by today's fast moving, materialistic times and poetry is no exception. The earlier purity and purpose are so missing. The stop signs are indeed badly needed. No words to adequately appreciate the exquisite imagery, your amazing art of expression.
'.. keep your motor running people ~ because others are shooting off their motor mouths ~ and exhausting the tolls ~ too expensive to drive the keyboards.. '
A metaphorical masterpiece, sir.. truly. Have read it a couple of times because there are quite a few views around your garden.. the light, the known, the hidden, the deep rooted and cherished.. all worthy according to what your heart and mind really want.
We seem to wrap selves in strange language these days, bumpy rides everywhere, not necessarily self made, but there to make us want to break suddenly and like Dr Who.. go back and make better, find the pure - the unpretentious perhaps.
Your poem is extravagantly but tastefully elegant, interesting and.. worth learning and keeping.
Love the 60's references - both to the arts & music! Nostalgic, rambling and poignantly reflective write. Well …. I certainly liked it! PS … my motor’s still running; coughing, chugging and sputtering, but still going! :-)
