shelter from the form

shelter from the form

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

shelter from the form

free verse warnings,

writers in a hurricane of broken wind

pens bend like palms

trying to withstand gale force words

that soak pages with floods of random ink drops

eloquent elms survive the tongue twisting themes

even as poets get caught up in gusts of inspiration

and fly away...

You are so right!
Storms, you have weather to worry about and concerns about poet friends. I hope all remain safe and the battering subsides quickly. Scary stuff. Fingers crossed.

Gale force words. Love that.

I really don't know how you're able to come up with such great poetry day after day. The metaphors are perfect to me and always make me smile.

Great work, J.

thank you for your kind words, Tim,

As one who's unable to conform to rules when it comes to writing, you as a poet-teacher here show your feelings.. how an excess is like the weather.. swept up and often meaningless.. and to some extent I agree... but.. the way we think weathers the storm.. creates rainbows with too much of this or that colour.. because.. its what we feel, we see. Your poem as ever,, shows the way... makes its own sense in your own.. bright shadow, j.

Dorian has the poor people in Florida boarding up their windows with plywood. Poets can take no refuge
from inspiration nor the lack of it. If you write a poem, you are as naked as a newborn...great write my friend...dana

I must admit, J., I often find myself seeking shelter, not from others, but my own hail storm of words, emotion and a reluctance to say anything in the Cafe. Somedays, like others perhaps, I love the comfort of conformity (capitalization, commas, periods, etc.). Other days I puke on the page. A good one nearly everyone in the Cafe will get.

appreciate your response very much R.E.,

It can feel like that sometimes, can't it. The hurricane bearing down...words coming at you at speed...only so much time to get them down with a bent pen and ink drops...no time to be concerned about form.
Rather Dylanesque...but with the latest greatest , most powerful hurricane ever seen come to terrorize the eastern seaboard it's time to take shelter from the storm.
A lovely poetic write about...poetic writes.

Good one, j.
