Ceramic Curtsy

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Ceramic Curtsy

my heart,

a porcelain urn

holding the ashes

of dear departed friends

and loves that crashed and burned

as well,

sitting on the mantle of memory

i hear a song

rising like a Phoenix

my heart,

a porcelain yearn

for those who went before me

and those who sent me packing

i'm a suitcase with handles

too hot to touch

baggage borrowed from God

paying extra fees

my flight into sadness

a window seat

the urn awaiting my return

sitting on the mantle of memory

songs with words unheard

and loves that crashed and burned.

This is such a sad poem to read Jacob. Pulls at the heartstrings. Brilliantly written but sadder than sad. First stanza holds very powerful imagery. Wonderfully expressed.

My eyes 'glazed' over at the title lol. The first stanza has such a powerful image that the rest of the allegory simply flows from it like melting chocolate.
