Perfectly titled Jacob. This brought memories of those hollow aches that thud without echo, yet still reverberate when tethers of love and/or friendship are cut.
There is nothing left to say of the last verse, other than exceptional. Perfectly tying up your piece, yet leaving the reader it is continuing in that silence.
Losing a friendship/a love is sometimes the hardest pill to swallow but we have to accept certain situations in life in order to survive, with a healthy mind. It 'pains' and you will feel 'lost' the best of times but we have to play the survival game and move on. Excellent write. thank you for sharing
Watching the telephone...willing it to ring.....I have been there. The silence is deafening....and then perhaps we pick up the receiver to see if the phone is working. If a friendship is one-sided, it is not truly a friendship, is it? Jacob, I always enjoy your poetry and I apologize for not reading it more regularly. Lydi**

You are hoping that she can contact you again, at least for the sake of friendship. You are listening and waiting, but she rewards you with silence. Sometimes we have to let go even though it nearly kills us. Look after your heart. Half a heart is better than none. That's where you took me Jacob.
