GatheringA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
sterile
enhancement bigger than life's true
breath golden idols dance in
the breeze and we follow, wayward heart's absurd
contentment bought and sold for a pittance of moral
fortitude but lots of green i found mine in the old
pastures under a Vermont frost some October way back
when and reveled in the
nothingness but somethingness as the
dew evaporated with my years we can't buy those kinds
of memories and when the accounting
comes with the reckoning hearts will sleep
restlessly as what we had
evaporates with the wind, and what we could have
been becomes an apparition taunting us for the rest
of forever. erin-cilberto 9/29/19 © 2019 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
