Catch and Release

Catch and Release

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Catch and Release

the feral lover could not be tamed

she remained wild in the sheets

as if they were her forest green

while in between

and he found himself

spread thin in understanding

but well-endowed with wisdom

after she departed

and went back to what she came from

a basic instinct

to keep her distance

from love.

i like your parallel, Stella...
thank you so much for your visit.

Those lovers are best left to the wild. You can not tame them. They aren't prepared to give, they take. Sooner understood, the better. Plenty more fish in the sea. Great title. Catch and Release. I'd be inclined to add without tears.

yes, without tears...so true, Chris.
thank you for your words,

J., she reads like one that might be better in the "wild." This poem reminds me of what a friend once said about such women, who he called "carnival rides." You enjoy ride but leave the park at night. You never marry a "carnival ride." I'm also reminded of Sharon Stone... Enough said. :)

thank you for your words, R.E.

Those who will not (or cannot) fully commit to another, emotionally, often feel free to override their physical inhibitions and sexually combust.. Perhaps they're convinced they have nothing to lose.
In bed, not so bad; just about everywhere else, a deep disappointment.
One extremely clever and profoundly perceptive poem!

Some people go to great lengths to shield themselves from pain. It works for them most of the time but perhaps not always. At least he learnt something there...
