the wind is ripping through this carton of a house

flapping roof in cardboard fear

rising angels

used to live inside

another funnel

tunnels its way through the kingdom

Noah thought the flood was bad

but now there is no boat to save us

a sun without a father

will not show his head for days

this maelstrom is electrocution in the waters

of capitalism swallowed with Jonah

into the stomach of the Killer Whale

and we don't have any idea we are dying

of greed

which becomes waste when the whale is harpooned

swimming among the flowers

Ophelia's dream

now blown away

she has risen

angels shipped by amazon

is this storm tax free?

can whales be kept as pets

if they want to be?

Being immersed in my long story lately, I almost forgot how dismal the world felt to me not so long ago, until I read this. On one hand, I admire your word-crafting which is popping more than usual here & on the other, now I feel very depressed about the world's core problem, which is greed & you've addressed that powerfully here (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Have you ever noticed that we call ourselves humanity, without irony? We seem to have believed the hype after all and that we no longer need to keep up with the Jones', because we are all now the Jones'.
Buying things we do not need, consuming more than we output and showing disdain at any poor unfortunate that falls by the wayside, usually because they have actual, real life problems and not the manufactured drama of their lives.
Not having anything to wear used to be a problem, but now that means you cant fight your way through your slavery enriched wardrobe to pick one of the too many outfits we have. And it means nothing without at least a thousand likes. Confirmation that we can make as many dylithium crystals as we like, but there's no way we're gonna make it, cap'n.
All hail the idiocracy!
More of a rant than a review Jacob, but i now feel so much better now.
Ps.... Talking about a lack of irony, i just thought i should point out that this review was written, sitting on a furry purple dice with arms and legs, with the aid of a lamp with googly eyes. And no, they don't belong to me 😀

It is difficult to blame people for making money
The method perhaps
the way it is used, often quite likely, but the huge gap is a very unfortunate result

yes, it is...thank you, Dave,

Strong images of the homeless in your first stanza.
Flapping cardboard boxes, empty and tragic. We are seeing the worse of capitalism. Great contrast in your lines. The greed is awful. Money can buy anything. Can whales be kept as pets? You can bet some son of a you know what thinks so. Pay up and it will be delivered. What a thought. Powerful and depressing.
