a poet's enigma

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a poet's enigma

i write darkness,

all the while smiling

through clenched teeth

and white fists....

Sometimes I write about smiling while cloaked in darkness, this really resonated with me.

You just wrote my biography, J. May I publish it with a black binding?

Brief and true!

okay, but nothing real fancy on the binding...Poe wouldn't like that.

Certaintly I have faith in thee! Joyous song! When will you come around? Show me the melody of your tune? Of all tunes! Latent, you will rise in the mid-night hour, so Soul knows....smile, smile.

Thank you for sharing Jacob.

The current situation in this country is prime material for the production of darkness. Smiling, even with clenched teeth and white fists is OK, especially when compared to going berserk with an AR-15 in a shopping mall.

Nice little gem.

A touch of darkness...a smidgeon of madness...anger rising to the surface as fists are pounded on the desk in search of the next words.
For some reason it seems Edgar has returned...Poe boy.

It's a mystery to me.

Clenched teeth and white fists spell frustration to me Jacob. May be your writing isn't going in the direction you wish it to go? Maybe your muse is playing games? Whatever, the dilemma, your readers wouldn't be aware of your predicament. We are all in awe of you.

Angry young man often becomes angry mature man. (Notice the unexpected diplomacy.)
Grotesque smile, clenched teeth and white fists could indicate that certain changes are not
happening--or have not happened--quickly enough to quell the poet's growing frustration.
Whatever your motivation, Jacob, your work product is of the highest quality.
