Emotional Research

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Emotional Research

half a face

no other cheek to turn to

half a heart

no lover to hold onto

the blood of becoming one

still traveling

through the veins of poets

with half a pen

to write with

half a concept

like a hanging indent

on a Work Cited page

with half the sources

necessary

to understand

a citation-ed self.

okay Jacob, I have organized a search and rescue party, we can't allow for a half heart, and no hanging indents either, nope... and I am sending you some whole pens cause we would all miss those metaphors, synonyms and alligators er… I mean allegories... but then again, broken and half hearts are the fuel most poets rely on don't we.... oh well, keep the pens Jacob, I like reading your poems...
