Wait for Me

Wait for Me

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Wait for Me

i was hired to write poetic jingles

but lost my Andy Devine

somewhere between consonance and assonance

and the syllables rode wild horses

then landed a stone's throw

from insanity

after a week, i quit

and went back to quilting quatrains

in semantically English saddle

no old west wordiness

for this contracted cowboy

besides,

i never learned to ride poems

all that well

the muse tended

to throw me off.

most remember Andy Devine for his raspy voice and his cowboy movies, both of which you use as metaphor in this poem.... but for me it was his kids TV show with Froggy and his Magic Twanger.... now there was a poetic duet for you... yep, no consonance or assonance would miss their tongues as they would corral that muse and lock her/him in jail til the territorial judge arrived... and then that judge would throw ole Roy in jail for letting 'Cookie' play with Froggy... as for your poem Jacob, well all I can say is it was "Plunk your magic twanger" good.... ;0)

Have always known Andy Devine to be the good-natured, corpulent sidekick; not sure
of his connection to poetic jingles--though, come to think of it, in some cowboy productions,
he may have been called, "Jingles."
Whatever the case, another metaphorical triumph!

I was writing a review yesterday when my computer was seized by aliens and it was wiped out.

I like the western theme and the little touch of Christmas with Jingles and Cookie...Wild Bill and Roy would have been proud...and old Andy would have flashed that gap toothed grin to boot.

Most syllables do seem to live a stone's throw from insanity...if you don't pursue them properly you could be quilting quatrains while riding side-saddle.

It doesn't look like the Muse has tossed you yet...must have rode the whole 8 seconds.

A good write j.

Entertaining and so clever Jacob. I had a flash back of the Rocking Horse Winner maybe a safer option than riding through a poetic rodeo of love!

Bad Muse! She/He can play tricks on us much to our disdain. A bit of coaxing on both sides is sometimes required! ...says one who has been there!
