frozen tundra meets the Bermuda Triangle

frozen tundra meets the Bermuda Triangle

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

frozen tundra meets the Bermuda Triangle

it's ninety degrees outside

but below zero in my heart

deep freeze,

contains, retains

obtains

a softening

a reckoning

a defrosting

it can move again

beat again

but also get devoured again

and eventually

disappear

freezer burns and all.

love it. emotion is life. all things can change just like how all emotions can change. the devoured part rocked me. freezer burns is 'real'. right?

always welcome. you rock.
Perhaps the ice is too thickly laid to thaw ever again...It happens...over the years, with each failure, each devouring and then comes a time when we cannot handle the uncertainty of another exposure any more. Very fresh and interesting metaphors there, Jacob. Much appreciated.

another very enjoyable poem Jacob.... I like the tundra/Bermuda triangle metaphor, appropriate I think for the way we often face falling in and out of love.... but I have decided to skip both of these places and just go off to some jungle where my heart can be eaten once and for all by alligators or is that allegories I always confuse the two... anywhooo, Jacob, I think you need a big sign that reads Beware: Deep Freeze Ahead... I don't need mine anymore....

Not sure the heart can ever really "disappear."
It could, however, be temporarily placed in a sort of "witness protection program."
That fresh start will often heal the heart and renew the spirit.
Chillingly clever poem, J!

In the arctic, we measure temperature by Celsius.

And it's called frostbite, not freezer burn.

I have flown through the Bermuda Triangle and except for the third eye I developed I suffered no ill effects.
Heartburn on the other hand comes and goes...more often than we like...frosted over then thawed...the freeze/thaw effect can crack the stoutest heart.
Freezer burn plays havoc, does it not?

We freeze, we thaw, we freeze, we thaw again; 'tis the nature of the beast is it not, hope springing eternal, salve to the wounds.

Life in indeed a Bermuda Triangle.
