Who do they think they are, anyway...

Who do they think they are, anyway...

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Who do they think they are, anyway...

i heard some damn poet
spewing words at a coffee shop

was fairly enthralled with his poetic banter
but then couldn't get the server's attention

needed a refill
of my own inspiration

but once she dropped off my menu of ideas
i never saw her again,

much like a lover or two i had
with no cream

 or sugar.

um, I just did one about budget woes...and if that isn't bad enough, I posted it.
It's like the poet isn't listened to ,but...even the poet needs to go without
sugar and cream to get the coffee, and can't escape that Human need.
Regards, Phill.

Gee
They now turn up at the table without notepads, regardless of how many seated, then take the full order assuring all that they will remember every last olive oil ruined piece of bread. They then mess up royally and instead of fish and peas pish and fleas are delivered. Nobody likes a smart arse !!I

You give more credit than deserved jacob. They do not think; simply act at a level of intellect that is stunningly bovine.

I have always had trouble getting the waitresses attention Jacob, especially if she's met me before.
I just leave without paying the bill and suddenly they're all over me. But that's another story, and they aren't called waitresses 😀

Strangely enough, spewing poet seems to be making people more agitated than usual.
Read the real stuff folks and the waiter will smile in your direction.
Lovers with no cream and sugar. That is surely the phrase for the day, or actually life.

Wow .. no other words come to mind.
There are several layers of thought in this poem, I did not read it as a writers block like one of your reviewers did. I felt that the waiter was the real poet who did not care for the accolades anymore
