A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Anniversary

it's the day after

two days before

and you were wed

and thought about days before that

when you wanted to couple

but God's law said to wait

and weeks turned into absolute yearning

learning

to do without

within

and 70 years later,

it was the day after

decades before

and you had been wed

and thought about days after that

when you survived as a couple

and God's smile

said

I'm glad you did

and decades turned into absolute learning

the yearning

within

you did not have to do without.

You did what you believed was right at the time. It would have been very special. On reflection and knowing how the religious thing doesn't mean as much these days, to me you might think now, you could have started much earlier. This is a special poem Jacob, but I detect a tinge of sadness here. Time wasted methinks.

This feels very special, Jacob.
So much to read into this. I think it's beautifully written.
