Whitewashed

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Whitewashed

orange blossom

in winter's harsh country

a misplaced seed

of doubt

further hampered

since nothing rhymes with it.

An orange blossom would probably blend right in with our winter snow.
Such a pretty thing yet it would go unnoticed unless someone cared to look closely.

thank you, Ana, appreciate your visit and words.

I think it's brilliant how you form an impression in limited words ,and the way you drop unexpected lines .
It just left a stupid smile on my lips .
love your work:)

I love your casual style of writing. I have never seen an orange blossom but now that I have read this, I really think I am missing out on something special.

If nothing rhymes with it, make it the centerpiece! Beauty always springs, unexpectedly and oddly. Mostly never fits in.

It was my pleasure!
Love the last line Jacob. Made me smile stupidly, but then my young neighbour asked what I was smiling at and I told her and she told me I need a new dictionary.
Apparently blorange and dorange are included in some dictionaries now. Blorange is orange/blonde hair and dorange is being lost in a fit of the giggles. Young people eh?
Reminds me of a Stephen Fry tale about school, where the teacher stated that sugar is the only word in the english language that starts with the shoo sound. One bright spark, or smart arse as they are commonly known replied "are you SUre Sir?" 😀
Don't worry though, I gave her the official withering look that being usurped by a whipper-snapper deserves 😀

its a fact innit ... and its one of those that everyone seems to know .. I have been known to lose sleep trying to find anything that comes close .. I guess you could say I have my very own misplaced seeds of doubt ...

Indeed, nothing rhymes with "orange."
A psychological poem which refers to more than Nature's beauty.
Still, lovely of form.

thank you for your kind words, Jimmy,

This is lovely. I have just penned a poem about seed dispersal. How strange. You know I really like the idea of an orange blossom springing up where you least expect to find it. Barren land with a determined visitor. Doubt is a curse best given the boot.
