when was i ever a poet

when was i ever a poet

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

when was i ever a poet

i was trying to find a place

to haiku

in the interim

i wrote a word or two

syllables hidden in plain sight

but so, so blind

The moment you took a liking to teaching English brought about a transition to Poetry I'm sure. Your knowledge of the English language really translates into fine writing of yours expressed so well with the discipline required, attached.

You have always been a poet. You will always be a poet too. No ifs and no buts and no doubt about it. All poets have self doubt.

Such clever use of poetry and language and emotion as this pathos filled piece expresses the doubt that many artists (good artists) feel about their work. It drives them to seek perfection. Sometimes though, when like you Jacob, they reach that state it feels like failure because they remain static in their perfection of their art.
