Poem...or not

Poem...or not

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Poem...or not

the words scarce

bereft of color

the poet's winter

hard upon

there is no significance

to what he writes

just a profound sadness

hiding in candid sight.

a poets hard winter
yet still they write
quite candidly for
all to see; a sadness
other poets read
and understand feeling
the deep emotional
state of a poem
a poem or not
an apt title;

thank you for your words, Fran,

Sadness is feeling with your heart...
when time is slowly slipping away...
where others pray on wings of love... tenderly, Pat

You express such depth in your writing. The significance is that you wrote it, you laid out your feelings and they affected others. Isn't that what poetry is all about?

Take care - Dave

No significance? Never! Your words are weighty....always. I believe you are still in the poet's summer. It is amazing to me how many poems you are able to write and how each one is a gem. Lydi**

I would like to know how your mind can constantly create when mine seldom kicks into life.
Good morning Jacob, hope you are keeping well and are happy that "sleepy Joe" has ousted the orange buffoon

I have felt this so many times.. This is a relatable one. Actually thoughts and expressions flow like river.. You hv to lucid and brisk enough to catch the stream.. It leaves the soil eventually.. Then you can feel their wet marks desperately Longing for concreteness. I don't know about others but my thoughts are quite hard to catch.. XD
Beautifully written.

I sure can relate to this one lately, Jacob. Been deep in my own Poet's winter of late.....seeing nothing but white and a taunting cursor. We always feel what we write is never good enough until someone comes along and tells us otherwise. I commiserate with your sadness. I am sure the colours will bloom very soon. 💛

thank you for your positive reply, Marina...and yes, as they say "this, too, shall pass!"

if you dont get it off your chest .. there is a risk of being strangled from within .... there is a certain tension release once the dots and the crosses have been laid ... but then its back to math .. and square one ...

so very much enjoyed our jacob.

ha ha...thank you, Neville,

"an intense emotion recollected in tranquility" that is how Wordsworth described poetry. He meant way more than the systematic study of metrical structure...nor any kind of rhythmic, ego profundity. He meant the likelihood that mankind would eventually questioned the world that he/she faced even when the answer was before them all the time. When Dorothy wished only to go back home to Kansas, Glenda, the good witch of the North told her, "you had the power to return all the time". The poem is the power brother...the significance is just the test.......dana
