I think I was in the audience of your play within a play Jacob, and wouldn’t you know it, think I briefly dated your her playing her in your play within a play...and this is where it gets weird... I think she is a shapeshifter, because she looks different every time, but the end feeling remains the same.
Great actress though 🙃

I was watching a beautiful actress in a play and then I found myself in the play. An actor and a spectator perhaps with little control on the way the act went as I had so little control over it all. Superbly written sir!
You know Jacob, when I read these lines I thought about Morse. A detective inspector in a TV series which started in the eighties. Set in the backdrop of the city of Oxford and all its University colleges. I would never miss an episode. He was a bachelor who was interested in all the arts. Loved his classical music, his books, poetry and art, and oh my did I have a crush on his character and that maroon jaguar he drove. Two years ago I bought the entire series off amazon. I still watch them even now. John Thaw, the actor died quite some time ago, I am still a huge fan.

Sadly not Jacob. Sarjeant Lewis was always in the passenger seat :)
Beautifully penned with the notion of love being mercurial. The imagery is powerful and a potent one indeed. In the line "are you a movie or a play?
and am i a play within the play?
the one wherein
you will catch the conscience
of the beggar king." The resemblance of a play how easily it is being tricked and manipulated in ways thought could never happen. Keep close to your hearts and always listen to your instincts; they are your guardian angels. Sincerely your friend in poetry and life :)
This brings to mind Jessica Rabbit :P wonderful metaphor for starry eyed love with someone who gave a terrific performance of being someone you could count on.

i love it when someone say that, loved Kathleen Turner too but not "like that" lol
This brings to mind the notion of parasocial relationships. When we develop relationships with fictional characters or characters on TV. I think we all do this at some point.
Perhaps British actress Judy Parfitt from the 1969 Tony Richardson film (movie)? Indeed a captive audience member, transfixed by a performance and writ in yet another expressive and emotive piece Jacob.

How Romantic... a play within a play...
falling for a Star who has captivated your
every desire... reminds me of the Song,
"Catch a falling star... put it in your pocket
for a rainy day"... by Louie Armstrong.
