Some People's Kids

Some People's Kids

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Some People's Kids

where the incline

meets the decline

and they both agree

to terminate in the middle

there is no degree

of agreement

descend upon the meeting

extend the hypocrisy

portend the uncertainty

that is destiny

when two hearts

refuse to engage

in dismantling

differences

where the incline

meets the decline

then falls apart

in the middle

what

almost existed--

as a lovely knick-knack

of blind faith.

When we make a mess of things, it's the kids who suffer most. I consider myself so fortunate that my mum and dad stuck together like glue. That made us a grounded family, and I thank them for that.

being grounded is a good thing...
thank you for your words, Chris,

This wonderful writing. Blind faith through marriage and children are huge leaps and yet we take them. Sometimes we survive them and sometimes we don’t but there is proof we try in those photos and hopefully kids will do better then we do. Not sure if that is in line with what you are writing but that’s what I got but my brain is on overload of late.

When children become knick knacks in a divorce, it is a tragedy. Too often the love that once existed is traded in for petty arguments. The children become the rope in a tug of war. Not sure if that is where you were going, but that is what I read into it. Lydi**

Not having spent much time among the fomenting masses lately, I'll just have to take your word for it. I love how your poem hints at how we hardly notice the specifics of what another person might be made of, as soon as we discover some deal breaker belief we refuse to deal with (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
