She and Me

She and Me

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

She and Me

the interference

of the tortoiseshell hiss

in the mourning of

troubled writing,

the purr-fictional poem

eludes

as the poet claws

his way over keys

with letters scratched out

of intimacy

it is fur-ever

indifference

like the feline personality

to throw a somber look

in my direction,

and laugh with those

slits of eyes

as i sink into my desk

absorbed like the cat

to her blanket

blending into insignificance

just another stray poet

feral

afraid.

Haha this is awesome and I know exactly what you mean and every catch of an eye is so judgmental when it is probably just bored. Mine gives me that look of a disgruntled employee that I have seen too many times in my career so I know that look. I would love to see Willow and Hank share a moment or two....or maybe not Willow thinks she is the Queen of Siam and would expect poor Hank to bow like she makes me ;) I love this poem so much!!!!

Hank probably would bow. She respects her elders.

I loved the wordplay here, Jacob! Very well written, feeling like Hank was your muse for this one. 😊

Yes, Hank has to be the muse because she can't type. Her paws keep hitting two keys at once....

You are certainly not a feral poet, my friend. Hank might pass her paws over the keys, but she will never write the wonderful poetry you do. You are totally comfortable in the poetic world. No insignificance here. Lydi**

wild thing ..i think i , pets are amazing, i love cats too but they are aloof at best, i need the cuddles. So clean and so smelly at the same time, and so they are quite the contradiction.

Thank you, Arundass,

All the way through reading these lines I saw the presence of Hank. She is with you whenever you write. You have your muse planting ideas and you have Hank too, s purring you on :)

Neither of you are feral :) Too cuddly by far.
