Tufts in the afterA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoTufts in the after I am wrapped in sarcophagus tears dead loves don't rise with the setting sun vampires drive stakes through their own hearts when goodbyes leave them alone for eternity I thought we were forever but then your ephemeral feelings became moribund moorings tying me to a dying ember Love, ashes, drawn sashes my friend darkness speaking to me in my own tomb as I recede into the womb of desolate desire encrypted bodies of those paragons of virtue and trust until the rock is moved the light intrudes and they wrap me in my own naivety and laugh through the entire eulogy while my tears smear the writing on the marker and I become "the unknown poet welcomed into the belfry reservation accepted. erin-cilberto 1/24/2021 © 2021 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
