I liked ‘it slipped through my fingers like the water it was’
The first two lines made that drop feel precious and special and the second two felt (to me as a reader) that that fell away and brought you back to reality. You’ve done something special here
This is how it feels to read one of my own poems & not being able to recognize that I wrote it or why (((HUGS)))

This shows how important poetry is to politics even if so called politicians don't believe so. Beautifully written for todays climate.
I may be totally wrong here but I see this as empathy with the earth.

For some reason this brings my near neighbour to mind. His good lady died in the recent past after 60+ years of marriage and he can be seen to be slowly fading away, like he is just biding time until called to join her.Very sad to see
Hope you are well Jacob

My dad surprised me...he and my mom were married for 70 years, she died in 2014...and he seemed to live only to take care of her...yet he carried on for three years.
Losing a mate after that long...no words can accurately describe.
thanks, Gee...doing well over here and hope the same for you..

"I cupped a drop of rain" I WILL steal that line too! what I feel here is something very painful, though the words are flowing with gentle sadness but at the end what I get is some profound pain, wanting to get rid not of memories but more deeper wanting to be erased completely from someone's memories, like we never existed to them, I know that feeling... I know the unbearable thoughts that flood with it, we simply don't want to be compared with anyone, so let us be nothing instead of being a sweet memory while the person enjoying love with another one, I maybe went off again but this is what your words speak to me, on another hand, it also speaks at the beginning about the power of surrendering.

"Be water, my friend" Bruce Lee ;) Does everyone have one love that was so intoxicating and looses it? We never "get over it" do we, Jacob? best if it can be turned to true friendship says i ... i suppose i will always love her; but i would not ever re-enter that painful love relationship with her ... no no! ;) as i followed the path of your droplet ... slipping through fingers .. reforming into that drop and then the splash, the absorption and place of becoming undefinable ... a letting go of self .. into the much larger universe of "All" ... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ;) loved the read .. did me nog and soul some good sir!
