dear Jacob... we live in perilous times of Insanity.
It is like watching the Movie "High Noon" every day
expecting Madness to Lead the Way. We can only pray
for a brighter day... when a Rainbow will once again
follow the Storm. truly, Pat

This for me had shades of that stampede at that rappers concert who should not have asked the audience to move up. Even I have become influenced by the media, can’t think straight.

This reminds me of one of my favorite songs, "Words At Twenty Paces" by Alabama. Althought that one has a Wild West analogy, the sentiment is the same. I absolutely love this, in all it's raw truth. As Pat Benatar once said, "Love is a battlefied."

thank you for your words, Zoe...and I will look up that song by Alabama.

This feels like observation of the dynamic of art and translation. Often times, we mistake dislike or general lack of enjoyment as a direct attack, and we as the artist, strike back. All the while, love on both sides gets lost in the melee. "And love has it's own unmarked grave". Wonderful write!

I do appreciate you, Travis...your insight never gets lost in the melee.

Though this one has that "In Flanders Fields" tone, I don't think actual physical combat is the topic here. Rather, I think the general spirit of animosity in the country (and maybe the world) today is being critiqued. I note that "perceived enemy hearts" is mentioned. Today, if you are just perceived to be for or against something, you may be savaged on the electronic media. Indeed, it's not the sword that cuts the pen in two, it's the internet.

Why is there so much hate in this world…words are cruel, actions are worse….we need to teach LOVE…even if it’s not our neighbor….if it gets down to the written word, I’ll write my own epitaph….
You certainly have a way with words J.
Love it

Oh the ignorance that starts it all and there is plenty of it going around and wouldn’t it be nice if love was so easily the answer? I’ll make sure to put flowers on its grave. Very well written of course and thought provoking. I “love” it
The power of words are no greater reflected than their ability to start wars, and rile hate in the hearts of many. Would we be a better society if we could not speak nor write? Or would we simply find another way and reason to hate? As the days pass we are finding common decency is becoming less common. A very thought provoking piece of art J. Thank you for sharing my friend.
