it's the invisible War, let it be inside the self or outside in the world. the poet stands in between love and hate, violence and peace, pen and sword, where to take his message and how? does he need to keep in balance as only an outsider or does he need to take a side? there is no escape, it's a blessing and a curse at the same time. I feel also a hint of unrequited love there.

thank you for the visit and review. In between love and hate and all the others... a rock and a hard place.

I'm just... stunned. This is the kind of poetry I'm always searching for-- "rifle tongues," "curses like bullets," where the metaphorical melts into the literal, and by the end I'm left feeling clobbered and frozen and things that only the French have words for, but mostly I'm struck by the old, "How did he do that??" Although your poetry itself is a great teacher, if I lived in Illinois I'd pull a reverse Ferris Bueller and sneak *into* your class.

And love is always found in unmarked graves....the ones who got away and the ones never meant to be. "she loved her enemy"....many women stay with abusers. That has never made sense to me, but I know psychologically, they feel they are in prison. Those who attempt to rescue the abused are often rebuffed. This is where your words took me, Jacob. Not sure if that is what you had in mind. Lydi**
