and then the eighth sacrament

and then the eighth sacrament

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

and then the eighth sacrament

epiphany rising

in the blink of a fractured eye

a love poem

sought its purpose

a lonely man wept with joy

words betrothed,

the advent of spring

and a girl

and a prayer book oath

a solemn holding of hands

she smiled

baptism of a future

down the aisle

of trust

we walked,

with hidden trepidation

extending our vows

with extreme unction.
