Made me a smile and chuckle..dear Jacob..
Yes, as life marches by we often find out why we are here..
In some weird way many of us are the Twisted Child of the 60's..perhaps only recently coming out of our rabbit hole.

those rabbit holes get claustrophobic don't they?

This is such a beautiful, amazing piece. Just the story it tells and the way it’s told is masterful and put together so, so well. ‘Twisted child of the 60’s’. I have to really applaud you for that line, it’s so genuinely good and telling. It all comes together in the end and wraps up perfectly. ‘ I became a twisted adult, with a new purpose emerging from the old one.’ Genuinely one of your best from what I’ve written I think. Thank you for sharing.

thank you, Vertigo, it is nice to know that I might still have some good ones in me as I age.

(twisted school child of the 60's lessons written on protest banners) How well I remember! I think the arrival of The Beatles was the only thing that saved me. I was (and AM) so in love with Paul!! Hey Jacob...one of your older poems (which is my favorite) "A POET'S WRAP FROM THE DOLLAR MENU" Do you still have it posted here? ~Sharon

I will check and see if it is still here somewhere, Sharon
Yes yes yes so relatable except the draft part but I remember the war but was just a kid, what a mess we make! The dropping out of school and coming back probably for different reasons but the coming back is probably the same reason in that I still valued education just not the situation at the time. I hated high school with a passion! Not the education the school. Oh I’m ranting! Sorry this poem brought out the warrior in me. Great write j.

Please, Patricia, rant on.
It means a lot to a poet to get a reaction like this.

If daring to believe in what is right, standing up for truth as you saw it is twisted, then call me a twisted child of the eighties! And proud of it, Jack!
As to twisted adults... Well, who's truly twisted? Those who champion true freedom? Or those who use the language solely for their own gain?
For all the "lessons" we have learned, have we abandoned what is truly important? Only the individual heart can answer that. But before we do, we need to look deep into the eyes of our children.
Thought provoking. Nicely written, Sir.
