a poet's preclusion

a poet's preclusion

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a poet's preclusion

synergy, and silhouettes

in pale light,

sharp love shines

ruffles in the blanket

bare feet entwined

engagement of forces, a cigarette

a morning after

sweet goodbyes

the pack left by the bedside

closeness filtered

life interferes

the hearts, smoke rings intersecting

brief

puffs

of fulfillment

and then dissipation

and barely a memory

survives the new sun.

The cigarette after the event. This poem speaks to me so much of what one night stands are all about. Gone in a puff of smoke. I can't help feeling the awkwardness of the mornings and the goodbyes. Not for everyone, but serves a need for those who find themselves there. I am left here with a tinge of sadness. Great write J.

yes, they are sad, aren't they?
Thank you for your words, Chris,

The perfect epilogue was a ciggie after. But like a puff of smoke all great moments come to an end laid out in memory. Can be a curse to remember.

Gentle poem after a one nighter with clever metaphors except as an ex smoker I now feel the need for a cigarette. As always a great read and ya never disappoint Hugs!

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones that found, after a wee bit of bed hopping, my soul mate. Couldn't imagine life without her by my side.
Good morning Jacob, Hope you are keeping well.

I am so glad you did, Gee,
Keep being by each other's....

Seen a few mornings after. An empty bed, sheets rumpled, and the memory of perfume in the air... Well written, J.

Some relationships are indeed brief. Perhaps they start off on the wrong foot to begin with. And whos fault would it be if it did? Is there a formula for success? I suppose just self-inspection is one of the keys. Life is chapters. A careful study of each may be another key.
