A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

silhouette seen in just the right light

arthritic brain,

the fingers move tenuously

slowly

over keys that are blurred

poetry is in the iris

of the heart

bound thoughts

squeeze out

one more movement

glasses lie by the typewriter

smudged lenses

from the last tears

shed onto the page.

I think we all can suffer from an arthritic brain, no matter our age. Thoughts lose clarity, lines become harder to form and the fingers tap the keys at a snail pace as a result. We aim for an emotional impact on the page but our frustration only leaves tears of our own. Sometimes the heart just feels bleak and the words won't come as a result. Familiar to us all. I wonder if there is a cream for that arthritic brain? It would help us. ❤
