Poem 3,483 or thereabouts

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Poem 3,483 or thereabouts
there  is a light, white spite
declining to accept spring
a few Christmas lights still sparkle
through the falling blur
birds confusedly fly in awkward reply
box turtles rehinge in a frigid wood
cars slide into mid-March
St. Patrick dons an extra coat
leans from his bar stool
to peer at the winter wonderland
of spring's rejected awakening
I stand in the rain of flurries
throwing crumbs to the birds
as April showers
wait their succession
longer than expected
snow shovels lean against the pear trees
I am sledding through my mind
remembering holding you
under a blanket of love
I smile,
while outside
green entry assumes its seat
in the waiting room
while summer reads
boring magazines, getting antsy
for its turn.

I say let's give Old man Winter a hot toddy and put him to bed.

Gee
Season's do drag and our own up and down emotions only go to exacerbate our impatience for change.
I'm a warm weather fella so the constant damp and cold is a right pain in the arse...and then I think of the poor folk in the Ukraine.
Good morning Jacob, Hope all is well with you

I think China need to step in and make him see sense, if that possible when he is obviously deranged
While one gets impatient for spring and then summer, winter has its sweet moments. I love all your lines here. This is beautiful to read.

Your reviews really encourage me, DIVYA...
Spring is slow in coming this year. My fairy lights still brighten the hallway, to add some cheer. There is little to lift the spirits in these dark times. The mood is still winter, though the heart longs for soring. Lovely words here J. I relate.

With snow outside one can only hibernate inside, pen in hand and write away.

I love nature and mood poems, this is something different from you, you always surprise me, I love it. My memories are always tied to nature and seasons and my writing.

We get rain, snow, sunshine, summer, spring, fall weather then winter again. Typical weather for us. Did you know Jackson, Wyoming recorded the coldest winter on record in 2019 with 62 days of below freezing temperatures? Just yesterday Jackson Hole, Wyoming broke the record low temperature for March ever recorded at 24 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. I don't doubt that global warming is real but nobody told the weather in Wyoming.

Snowing in KY tonight
just flurries flying about
no accumulations yet

ones confused..
